John Heiland

Heiland, John John George Heiland, 92, of Winter Park passed away on January 22, 2010. He was a graduate and ardent supporter of Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN. He was born in Chicago and during his career in research, engineering, and management he lived in Illinois, California, and Ohio. In 1976 he moved to Florida with his wife Grace (Kruger), who predeceased him. He loved to golf and swam everyday until he was 90. He enjoyed and was a supporter of the symphony, ballet, opera, and several art museums. He was a member and past president of the Winter Park University Club, the Stag Club, and and a member of the English Speaking Union. He was active at the First United Methodist Church.He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Heiland, his cherished grandchildren, Matthew Davison and Jennie Davison of Harvard, MA, his dear friend, Barbara Kennedy of Orlando, his brother and sister-in-law, George and Diane Heiland of Phoenix, AZ, many nieces and nephews and their children.A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 125 N. Interlachen Ave., Winter Park, on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 2 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
