Dorothy EAKIN Obituary
Dorothy Hines Eakin was known as Dottie by her many friends, as Mom to her three sons and Grammy to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was born June 27, 1924 in Waynesburg, PA. Dottie moved to Florida at age 16 to live with an aunt in West Palm Beach. Her mother and sister moved to West Palm Beach a short time later. She lived in West Palm Beach most of her life until she moved to Islamorada in the Florida Keys. She passed away peacefully May 17, 2016. Dottie was a kind and giving person that enjoyed cooking for her family. She was an avid gardener and was a member of the Lake Clarke Shores Garden Club in the 1970's. She co-owned and operated Palm Beach Haven Retirement Home with her mother for 26 years and she cared for the elderly residents as if they were family. She enjoyed attending church, decorating for Christmas and days boating in the Florida Keys. She never forgot anybody's birthday, anniversary or other important event. She will be missed. She is survived by her three sons, Gary Hines in Royal Palm Beach, Dennis Hines in Boynton Beach, Dean Eakin in Islamorada, FL and seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her sister Myra Quinn in West Palm Beach and nieces and nephews. Her viewing will be held Friday, May 20, 2016 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Home. Her Funeral and Memorial Service will be held at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33417 on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given in Dottie's name to Hospice of the Florida Keys, 92001 Overseas Highway, Tavernier, FL 33070 or Island Community Church, 83250 Overseas Highway, Islamorada, FL 33070.

Dean and family. ....So sorry to read this news ..Dottie and my mom (Mary Scarlett) were good friends and neighbors on Seville Rd and then for many many years after. I wrote to your mom often when my mom couldn't and then after her death too. We enjoyed her letters and treasured her friendship. I'd like to believe that our moms are enjoying fun times again together.
