I often talk about Denny and his gentle teaching style to others. He remains an example of how to guide young children through the education process. As I´ve said before- gone but not forgotten.

Was just thinking about Denny yesterday while driving past Middlesex Elementary and what a great and understanding teacher he was to my son who was having a difficult year. He may be gone but not forgotten.

A lifetime ago, Denny and I went to school together at Boiling Springs, played sports together. I remember him fondly as a kind and decent man. You will be missed, old friend. To his family, you have my deepest sympathy.

Mr. Lebo was my third grade teacher at Middlesex in the mid-1980's and he was one of my favorites! I still remember his infectious smile, kind demeanor and his enthusiasm in the classroom.

Kathy,
I would have loved to send a card and call but could find no address or number listed. I think of your house on Hanover St and early times at the hospital. How I always picture Denny,in running shorts, and I am sure doing just that where ever he may be. My heart is with you and your family. My number is 717-422-6956.
Love,
Christie Dick

So so sorry to hear about Denny's passing. He taught my son, Michael Belieu, in 3rd grade and his son and my daughter, Rachel Belieu, were friends in high school. I also knew him through the YMCA . In addition, we were neighbors for a few years. He was the most calm, patient, and accepting teacher Mike ever had. Our family was going through some trauma at that time and his class was a much needed haven of peace for my son. Denny was the friendliest guest service person at the Y. I often saw him running on my way to work in the morning. He was an inspiration to many and an example of how to live a quiet but deeply meaningful life. The world will be a little less without him.

One of my favorite memories of Denny was the day that he, as a very accomplished distance runner, caught up to me (a not so accomplished runner) and encouraged me to keep going! He checked up on me whenever I saw him to see how I was doing! Thanks Denny...I should have told you then how much that meant to me!

Mr. Lebo was my favorite teacher. I had him in 5th grade, he was brand new to Middlesex Elementary that year. I used to sit on his trash can next to his desk and help him grade papers. A few years later I was in the high school marching band. He helped with that, and it was great to get to know him a little out of the class room. Even years after high school when I saw him, he knew my name. He always had a smile. He was a great man and a great teacher. Prayers for his family.

Mr. Lebo was my 3rd grade teacher and one of my favorites. He was such a kind and patient person! I had the pleasure of getting to run into him a few times after having graduated from Cumberland Valley and he still not only remembered a face but a name to go along with it! Thoughts and prayers to his family!

I had the privilege and honor to work with Denny at Middlesex.
As his Principal and friend I always knew Denny loved his students and wanted the very best for them. He and I shared many good jokes and laughs. So very blessed that I had teachers like Denny who cared for kids and brightened their days.
Denny was a credit to the teaching profession who enjoyed helping students succeed. His students loved having Mr. Lebo as their teacher.
To all those who were fortunate to have met Denny, they are indeed better for it. May God bless him and give his family strength and comfort.
Thank you Denny Lebo for being YOU!

He was my favorite teacher ever! My family was too poor to afford even $10 towards field trips and he always paid out of his own pocket so I wouldn't have to feel left out. I remember going to the Strausburg Railroad on one trip and how he brought me into the store and let me pick out anything I wanted. That giant lollypop I chose was disgusting but I ate every last bit of it (over the course of a week or two) and appreciated it more than he could ever know. I was a difficult student. I was way too smart for my own good, and even more disruptive than I was hyper. I was very hyper. He never made me feel like I had a problem, just that I deserved better from myself and could work towards doing better. Mr. Lebo never lost his temper with me, and always went out of his way to make me feel special. Teachers and even just people like him in general are one of a kind. The world needs more such insipirations, but he has passed the torch and now it's our turn to be that shining beacon. This hits me hard but I feel grateful that I got to meet and learn from such an inspirational man. My heart goes out to his friends and family... Heaven is that much brighter of a place with his presence.
