David Melendrez
9/8/1937-7/29/2017

Passed away peacefully at home on Sat., July 29, 2017 at the age of 79. Dave was born on September 8, 1937 to Florentino and Corina (Padilla) Melendrez at Highland General in Auburn, California. He was a friend to all and an enemy to no one. A lifelong resident of Lincoln, California, and well known for being an avid baseball fan and the batboy for the Lincoln Potters, 1951 Placer-Nevada League Champions. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1955, where he played baseball and basketball all four years. He served four years as an Airman in the United States Navy in Alameda, Calif. After leaving the Navy, Dave became a barber and retired after fifty years of cutting hair at Barber Joe's located at Eastern and Arden in Sacramento.
Survived by his daughter Joanna Corrigan (son in law, Jeff), his son Daniel Melendrez, his five grandchildren Sarah Curtis, Grant Ireton, Stefanie Sparks, Jeffrey and Alex Melendrez; four great grandchildren Brooke and Hailey Sparks, Sean and Cillian Curtis; older brother, Florentino "Robert" Melendrez of Lincoln, and many other close relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and second wife Dawn Bane Melendrez.
Dave will be remembered for his love of family, charming and easygoing ways, and for being a lover of golf and great on the dance floor.
A time of gathering will be held on Friday, September 1 at 2 p.m. at the Lincoln Cemetery at 1445 1st Street, Lincoln, CA 95648, reception to foll
