I had the wonderful opportunity to know David (Mr. Hollenshead) and his family as a kid growing up across the road when he and his family lived in York. I mowed their lawn for a lot of years, had Mrs. Hollenshead as an elementary school music teacher, and was taken to a York baseball team game or two by Mr. Hollenshead. He and his family were the best! When I graduated from college with an engineering degree he gave me a great referral that was likely what got me a great position with a great company right-off. I miss him and his family very much and count them all as fantastic role models that helped me get going in the right direction. Once when I stopped by to be paid for mowing, David was playing the organ. He asked me what song I wanted him to play. I couldn't think of anything so I said "I don't know". David immediately began playing and singing "I Don't Know" to the tune of some other common song. Then he stopped and asked what else should I play? I still couldn't think of anything so I said "I can't think of anything". He proceeded to play and sing I can't think of anything" to the tune of another song. He repeated this about 4 or 5 times. It was a lot of fun and I will never forget how he was able to ad-lib so well. We could use a lot more like David Hollenshead in this world!
