ELLIOTT, Shawn Patrick Resident of Santa Rosa, formerly of Rohnert Park, passed away on March 21, 2018. Shawn was born on September 19, 1969 in Santa Rosa. He is survived by his loving wife, Sara Galvan, who after a three-year long distance courtship from her home country, Spain, married Shawn on September 22, 2011. Shawn also leaves "Oshi", his cat of 12 years, who meant the world to him. Shawn is also survived by his dad, Richard Elliott (Paula), of Arizona, his mother, Barbara St. Marie (Allan), and his brother Michael Elliott (Stacey) of Idaho, his step-sister Naomi Campbell (Alex), as well as numerous family members. Shawn was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 24 and the last few years have been difficult for him living with this illness. He worked part time for Goodwill Industries as a Material Handler these last five years. Shawn's main focus during his life was his music. He started playing in our garage at 17 and the band, Capitalist Casualties, was formed. Shawn was a founding member, lead vocalist and creative contributor with this West Coast Power Violence band for over 31 years. Their first show was in 1987 at the 7th Street Studios in Santa Rosa. Capitalist Casualties toured around the globe numerous times, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany, Holland, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, three tours to Japan and countless times the whole USA. Capitalist Casualties released over 25 recordings. All who knew Shawn knew that he was a trooper, a very loyal and caring man who was always there for his loved ones. Shawn was a gentle soul with a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor. Shawn's family, friends and fans share this loss with deep sadness and we will keep his legacy, especially his music, alive always. Shawn's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 9th at 1 p.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, 5150 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's UMC, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Shawn was a major impact in my life. So many firsts in my life, both good and bad, were experienced together. He had a charisma and personality that commanded attention, yet was humble and caring. The world will be a less interesting place without your presence and energy my friend . No matter how much time passed, when we reunited, It always felt like we had not been apart. Your light in the world will be missed. Shawns passion for music inspired me and ignited a passion for the art form that still is alive and burning. I love you buddy!

Shawn was a pleasure to work with and a joy to be around. Not only was I his supervisor but a friend as well. We miss you Shawn as I know your family does too.

For several years we lived 2 doors away from Shawn and Mike on Martin Way in Eureka. I remember looking out our front window and seeing your boys sitting on our front fence with our kids, Stacey and Darin. Who knew then what roads these 4 would take. Stacey was a good friend to Shawn for years, through good times and bad. In 2005 she married Mike. Our families are connected.
Our hearts broke when we heard the news of Shawn's death. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you make your way through the grieving process. Memories will help.
