jerry egan will never be forgotten. a part of jerry is in every single one of us. whose heart hasn't he touched? he always got his point across in a calm reassuring voice..he was one of my brothers close friends and i will never forget him. jerry was our eddie haskell and when he would come over for dinner with the small family he always complimented my mother..mrs small what a wonderful meal!!! our eyes would roll in our heads because our mother could not cook to save her soul!!! we thought potatoe salad was crunchy until we went to neighborhood cookouts!!! jerry was always a gentleman though and paid our mother a compliment whenever he was over..maybe we should have learned from him....he was never pretentious always honorable and they don't make men like jerry egan anymore..as one of your students said--mr egan rocked !!! i laughed at first but i have to agree with that student..while jerry was on earth he did rock and everyone will remember you..thanks jerry for being that prince who rescued everyone in a discreet way..you were the best. i am sure david will miss you immensely and the world is a better place because of you..keep up the good work upstairs until we all meet again..love kathy small cunnion

To the entire Egan family, we were so sad to learn of Jerry's passing. He epitomized what we should all strive to be... a fine citizen. As a labor activist, community representative, and friend, he was committed to this goal. Ray and I and our children will always hold Jerry in our hearts.
Our thoughts are with you.

Dear Alma and Family, Jerry was one of the best people God ever created. A wholesome and dedicated man to his family and his career. He was respected by everyone. His smile would light up any room he was in. We haven't seen each other in a long time but he was the type of person that would just pop into my mind for no reason.
If anyone deserves to be with God, it's Jerry and I am sure he is.

We called him Pappa Echo for Professor Egan and his love to spell out acronyms in the military alaphabet. He will always be remembered as a great teacher and role model.

I have had the honor of knowing Jerry for the past 14 years. He represented the Scituate custodians local 855. I have been the locals president since 2005. Jerry was a mentor to me not only as president of my local but as person. He spoke to me often about his love for his wife and his family.Although i have known him only a short time in my life compared to others,i will take what i learned from him and carry it with me for the rest of my life. My deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the Egan family.I had Mr. Egan for American History grade 9. He is the reason I teach history. I LOVED him. What a fabulous teacher and mentor. Over the years I meant to write to him to tell him how much I admired him but never got around to it. But today I will teach like I always do in the style of Mr. Egan. I will tell my students of this wonderful man!! and how blessed I was to have known him. To you Mr. Egan!!! with thanks!! God Speed!!

My deepest sympathy to the Egan family!! I was a student of Mr. Egan's back in the 70's. He is one of my favorite teachers. So many times I thought to send him a note to tell him that I am a teacher today because of him but never got around to it. So today I went to my classes and taught as I always do in the style of Jerry Egan. I told them the story (as he always told stories) of this wonderful man and how blessed I was to have known him. Good Speed Mr. Egan!!

I worked with Jerry for only a few months when he became my union's uniserve director in the summer of 2011. When Jerry spoke to my membership at the start of school that year the energy he radiated was contagious. Thank you Jerry for your support, your expertise and for helping me protect my members.

What cherished memories I have of Jerry and Alma who would treat Rene and I to the beach or park on a summer day. And I can still see him (so tall and handsome),sitting in the Lavallee living room reading the Providence Journal with Alma propped on the arm of his chair as they discussed the news together. Those impressionable memories taught me the importance of love and living!

What a teacher Mr. Egan was. 34 years after being in his law class I still think of the lessons he taught us and the encouragement he gave his students to reach their potential. I also had the pleasure to run into him years later at a AFL-CIO function. He walked right up to me and knew exactly who I was and still encouraged me to pursue my dream no matter what it was. He had a direct influence on my decision to go back to school and pursue the degree I never got. The world just became a smaller place with his passing. Godspeed Mr. Egan!
