Randy Kimmel Obituary

Randy Kimmel, 62 of Home, died on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 in Pittsburgh.

He was born in 1954 in Punxsutawney to Robert and Louise Bowser Kimmel.

Randy was an active member of the Plumville Presbyterian Church, where he served as a church elder. He was also a member of the Indiana-Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 313, Indiana.

He had a heart for wildlife conservation and was a founding member of the Keystone Elk Country Alliance. He served as founding treasurer, founding life member and an active volunteer. He was also a member of the Keystone Sportsman Club, Shelocta.

He loved hunting with good friends, traveling, camping and boating. However, his greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his three granddaughters, whom he loved to spoil. His bear hugs, belly laughs and big smiles will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Randy, along with his wife, Cathy, founded Mashan, Inc., a communication and electrical company. In partnership with their son, Matt, they operated Mashan for the past 22 years. Prior to self-employment, Randy worked as a concrete finisher, a coal miner and a farmer. He prided himself in working hard and providing for the ones he loved and those in need. He lived by the mantra of "love your family, honor your responsibilities and make a stranger your friend."

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cathy Rising Kimmel of Home; one son and one daughter, Matthew and wife Allison of Hillsdale and Shanna Scordo and husband Aaron of Indiana; three granddaughters, Morgan Kimmel and Quinn and Cora Scordo; one brother and one sister, Robert Kimmel and wife Doris of Home and Cindy Rado and husband Joe of Garrettsville, Ohio; numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews; and countless friends whom he counted as family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father Robert "Slim" Devinney.

Friends will be received on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. Friends will also be received on Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Marion Center, where a funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Drew Himes officiating.

Interment will be private in the Smicksburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Plumville Presbyterian Church, PO Box 422, Plumville, PA 16246; or the Keystone Elk Country Alliance, PO Box 315, Benezette, PA 15821.

Please accept my condolences. Know that the God of comfort feel your pain and sorrow. Isaiah 61:1,2 reads: "He sent me (Jesus Christ) to bind up the brokenhearted, .. and To comfort all who mourn, ..."

I was the first person to get to call him Uncle Randy, although many in blood, by marriage and friendship have fondly and proudly followed suit. He was a wonderful person that I looked up to and could always count on. I am thankful that my own children had the blessing of knowing him too. Rest in Peace until we meet again. Love and prayers to Aunt Cathy, Matt, Shanna, Allison, Aaron, Morgan, Quinn and baby Cora.
