Barbara was the wife of David J. Alspach Sr. They would have celebrated 54 years of marriage on April 25, 2013.
Mrs. Alspach was born in Reading, PA, on March 25, 1939, a daughter of the late George R. and Emma C. (Buchter) Bosold.
Barbara was employed for many years with the former Imber's Clothing Store, Reading, and the former Tershahouse, also of Reading. Mrs. Alspach also had a gift for the caring of children, no matter who they were, for over 20 years of her life, taking them in and providing whatever was needed for them. She could be considered a wonderful foster mother. Barbara enjoyed shopping trips, spending quality time with her family, and she loved animals. She also was a member of Glad Tidings Church, Muhlenberg Township.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, is one son, David J. Alspach Jr. and his fiance, Kathleen M. Hoffman, Mertztown, PA. There are three daughters, Christine L., wife of Michael Degler, Birdsboro; Alethea A., wife of Robert McDonough, Laureldale; and Victoria M., wife of Joseph V. Suglia, Birdsboro. She is also survived by two brothers, Joseph, husband of Matilda Stumhoffer, Shillington; and Irvin, husband of Linda T. Bosold, Robesonia. There is one sister, Beverly, wife of Michael Miller, Laureldale; and six grandchildren, Joshua, Daniel, Bobby, Meghan, Ashley, and Amanda; and two great-grandchildren, Aylia and Abigail; Diane Symons, Michael Schrader, Jennifer Wiley and countless others were her foster children. Barbara was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Fisher and Robert Bosold, and one sister, Mary Bosold. Barbara will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Funeral services from Cramp Funeral Home Inc., 934 Centre Ave., Reading, Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Entombment in Charles Evans Cemetery Masoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. to pay their respects.
