John Fred Doremus, Sr.

John Fred Doremus, Sr., son of the late John Wesley Doremus and Elsie (Schimmel) Doremus passed on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 peacefully at home. He was 94 years old. John was born in Suffern, NY on August 21, 1926. He was the widower of Carolyn Ann (Frahn) Doremus.
John graduated from Suffern High School in 1944. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Philippines. John received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering. John was retired from Avon Research and Development as Senior Processing Engineer in Suffern after 28 years of service.
John was a Central Valley resident for 62 years, a former member of the Woodbury Seniors and former volunteer of the Woodbury Ambulance Corp. He was a 70 year member of the Masons.
John is survived by his son, John Fred of Alburtis, PA; his daughter, Lora Vite (Brian) of Central Valley, NY; his five grandchildren: Carrie (Peter), Wesley, Brianna (Russell), Katy (Cal) and Robert, and two great-granddaughters: Brooke and Isabella. He was predeceased by a son, William Carl.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
