John Reese Obituary

John (JACK) Bennett Reese
1922 ~ 2012
John (JACK) Bennett Reese. Jack was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1922 to LaVee and John Reese. He passed away on October 5, 2012 in Surprise, Arizona. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Lila Rae. Also preceding him in death were his parents and sisters Marjorie Ogden and Geri Bennett.
Jack is survived by his two daughters, Sherri Steenson (John) and Connie Buckley. He was the proud grandfather of four; Kelly Baughman (Katie), Kory Baughman (Pete), Nick Buckley (Natalie) and Scott Buckley (Katie). He has five great grandchildren; Carson, Ethan, Andrew, Logan and Parker. He is also survived by his brother Dr. William Reese of Ogden, Utah; his brother-in-law Val Bennett of Saint George, Utah; and many nephews, nieces and friends. During World War II he enlisted in the Navy and was sent to the South Pacific. His unit supported the Marines in the battle of Iwo Jima, and he was there when the flag was planted on Mount Suribachi. After the war, Jack returned to Utah and attended the University of Utah where he met and married Lila Rae. He was a member of the golf team. After graduating from the university, he began his career with Skaggs Drug Company (American Stores). He retired in 1982 as a Senior Vice President. Jack was married to Lila Rae for over 63 years when she passed away in 2011. They enjoyed their retirement and golfed courses all over the world. His family was a very important part of his life, especially his grandchildren. We would like to thank Care from the Heart; especially Marilyn, Gail, and Wendy; also the caring nurses at Arizona Hospice (Sun Health) in Sun City West, Arizona.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Sunland Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 15826 N. Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 85351. Funeral Service and graveside committal with Military Honors will immediately follow. Please leave online condolence messages for Jack's family at www.sunlandmemorial.com.

sherri and connie: i want to thank you for the opportunity of letting me meet and assist your father with care at home. he was a very nice man and in the short time i've been with him he has taught me many things. we had alot of good times together and we seemed to "click" like we've known eachother for a long time. i think of him often and will remember him always. he was truly a wonderful gentleman and will be missed. marilyn
