DAWN SAVAGE Obituary

Dawn Savage 1954 ~ 2011 Our beloved mother, sister, niece and dear friend passed away May 10, 2011 in Murray, Utah. She was born December 30, 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to John Bruce Savage and Doris McCloskey. She was raised in Phoenix, Arizona and moved to Utah in 1976 to attend school at the University of Utah. She graduated with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and again with a Master's Degree in Special Education. She was affiliated with Chi Omega Sorority and served as a Chapter Officer. She taught elementary education in the Salt Lake City School District for over 15 years. Dawn was acknowledged for her commitment to her students and their achievements. She was proud to see her students go on to achieve greater success. Dawn always wanted to explore new places and travel the world. She fulfilled her quest by exploring all of Europe with her mother, aunt and daughter. She enjoyed participating with friends in African dance. She was an extraordinary quilter who created many unique and intricate designs which her children and family cherished. She is preceded in death by her father, Nana and her loving mother, with whom she had a special bond. Surviving her are her children, Brandon and McCall. She is also survived by her brother, Bruce and Aunt Mickey and a host of adoring friends. Friends and family may join us to pay their respects and celebrate Dawn's life at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, on Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Online condolences at www.larkincares.com

I am sorry to know that the world will have to spin on without Dawn Savage. Dawn was fun, funny, interesting, fearless, and loved life. She was always ready with a tip for upcoming music or dancing events, and a word of advice for life's occasional pickles. We will miss her, and hope to remember her with a laugh or a story.

My heart is just broken.

Brandon and McCall we all loved your mom! She was beyond energetic and a friend to all. She had the unique ability to make best friends wherever she travelled in life. Everyone thought they were her best friend. And they were! How she accomplished that I will never know.

I will miss her for the rest of my life. To me she was a best friend.

I am here if you need anything-

Love to you both,
Christy Elkins (and Drew)

I would never have gotten through college without the love and laughter and joy of Dawn. We lived in the Chi Omega House together for three years and were officers together our Senior year. Oh the adventures we had! How I love her! I recently reconnected with her through Facebook and found her to be the same high spirited girl of the 70's. I express my sincere condolences to her children. She is a fabulous woman.

McCall and Brandon,
I am so sorry for your sudden loss.
We will all miss her.
She always told me I was the sister she never had and I will always treasure the times we had together.
I am still in shock, but know I will always find things to remind me of
her special gift of living every day to the fullest.
I think she always had three 'special' loves, her mother, her children, and her students.
All my prayers and love,
Aunt Susan

I am saddened to see the passing of Dawn. I do believe your Grandmother Doris was my 3rd grade teacher growing up many years ago at Monte Vista Elementary. I would love to know if this is the same Doris Savage. My heartfelt sympathy is with you at this time.

McCall and Brandon; you have my heartfelt thoughts and prayers. I have happy memories of you, McCall, and your sweet mama. Please feel my hugs at this hard time. Aunt Yvonne

Miss Dawn was my daughters 2nd grade teacher. She was an exceptional teacher who remembered all her students. She always made time to say Hello and ask how you were doing. She never forgot my daughters name even after 4 years. She was an incredible person and we were fortunate to know her. She made a difference in our lives. Our prayers are with her family.

I dated Dawn when we were both at the U of U, and had a chance to go to lunch with her about a year ago. Her bubbly personality and sense of humor had not changed. She really is a rare jewel. I wish more people had her freshness and energy. This world would be a far better place. We have lost a truly wonderful gal. May the peace of the lord be with your family. I feel your pain and loss. Dawn save me a place by you in heaven, I would love to hear your beautiful voice and laugh again. Goodbye my friend for now. Dawn I will always think of you! ALWAYS!

We have always been there for each other when times were hard. We have laughed and cried and comforted each other through the years. Even when we hadn't had contact in years we could pick up right where we had left off. I know she will still be with us. Because she loved us, we are all better people.

Dear Brandon and McCall, I am so very sorry we have lost Dawn from our physical lives, she was a wonderful person. Dawn was my friend and always so very nice to me. Whenever we spoke, she always would add a smile to my face every time. I remember a quote I once heard that I always think about and I want to share, “Death is that state where a person’s existence resides in the memory of others . . . therefore, one’s life can be never ending!” May we always keep our memories of Dawn in our hearts and minds for she was one person that added happiness and a smile; or made life a little easier with anyone she came in contact with, and I am a better person for knowing her and being her brother in law. I offer my sincere condolences to both of you, and everyone that knew Dawn. Dawn I will miss you!

Dawn is an amazing person. The world could use a few more just like her. I wish she could have taught all 3 of our children, but I'm grateful Tomas had her. ELP won't be the same.
