Richard Horner Obituary

Lt. Col. Richard E. Horner, USAF(Ret.) age 84 of San Antonio died February 28, 2002. He was born October 24, 1917 in Wrenshhall, MN. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1944 from the University of Minnesota, and in 1948 was awarded a Master's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Princeton . Col. Horner served in the USAF during WW II. After his retirement, he was the Flight Test Technical Director at Edwards AFB. He was the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Research and Development during the Eisenhower Administration. He served as Sr. V.P. for the Northrop Corporation in Los Angeles, CA from 1960 to 1970. He served as President of the former E.F. Johnson Co. in Waseca, MN. After his retirement he and his wife lived at Lake San Marcos, CA and then moved to San Antonio where they have lived since 1989 at The Towers. Col. Horner was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder and was serving on the Board of Trustees of Fuller Seminary at the time of his death. Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Peggy, son Richard J. and his wife, Ren 5/8, daughter: Judy, five grandsons, one granddaughter, sister, Edythe Rodriguez and husband, Francisco, and brother, Robert and wife, Jeanne MEMORIAL SERVICE TUESDAY 10:00 A.M. FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH The Rev. Dr. Louis Zbinden officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to either the Christian Assistance Ministry or the Fuller Seminary in care of First Presbyterian Church 404 North Alamo San Antonio, Texas 78205 or to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements with Porter Loring Mortuary.
