Ronald Seaman Obituary

February 10, 1947 - February 6, 2016
Dr. Ronald L. Seaman died peacefully in San Antonio, TX on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the age of 68.

Dr. Seaman is survived by his wife Nancy Foster of San Antonio, TX; two sons Matthew Seaman of New Orleans, LA and Christopher Seaman of Ruston, LA; daughter Emma Seaman Long and
husband Christiaan of Baton Rouge, LA, and three grandchildren Gabriel, Justin, and Jude. Step-daughter Kimberly Foster and husband Hector Sepulveda of San Antonio, TX. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Thomas and Pauline (Black) Seaman and his brothers
Gary and Joseph Seaman.

Dr. Seaman was born on February 10, 1947 in Seaman, Ohio to Thomas and Pauline Seaman. He
graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1970 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He
received a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University in 1975 and an MS in Management
(MBA) from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1987. He held several teaching positions through his years, including professor of Biomedical Engineering at Louisiana Tech University from 1987-1994. He was a brilliant research scientist and a loving father. Dr. Seaman was a leader and an active member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

A member since 1968, his colleagues credit him with preserving the status of the IEEE
Engineering and Medicine and Biology Society Central Texas Section, a group which he led for the past 5 years.






As the IEEE Central Texas Section Student Liaison, it is estimated that Ron influenced over 5000 young and future engineers in the area's K-12 schools and the five major universities in the area (St. Mary's University, The University of Texas, The University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas State University, and Trinity University). Indeed, his colleagues in the Central Texas Section credit him with hundreds of hours per year supporting IEEE causes. He was a devoted and accomplished individual who loved the pursuit of scientific discovery and who was passionate about mentoring researchers. Dr. Seaman was a published researcher who traveled the world to share his expertise with others at prestigious conferences. He received many honors for his treasured work and was a member of numerous professional organizations and community activities. In addition to IEEE, he was an active and dedicated member of the Bioelectromagnetics Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Society for Neuroscience, American
Physiological Society, and American Statistical Association.

A celebration of Dr. Seaman's life is scheduled for Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 1:00 PM at his residence 12566 Rapids Pass, San Antonio, TX, led by his wife Nancy. All are welcome to attend and
celebrate Dr. Seaman's life.

I didn't know Ronald but I did know his dad. His store in Winchester, Ohio was one of my favorite places in Winchester. May he rest in peace.
