Antonio Aldape Obituary

ALDAPE, ANTONIO MIKE "TONY" Tony Aldape passed away Sunday, August 27, 2006 under the loving care of San Diego Hospice. Tony was born in Boise, Idaho on February 22, 1942. Tony was proud of his Basque heritage and maintained strong ties to the Basque community in Boise by frequenting their many celebrations. Since 1989 Tony enjoyed a successful career as a Realtor, most recently with Century 21 Solymar on Morena Blvd. He was a member of the S.D. Assn. of Realtors, the CA and National Assn. of Realtors. He will be missed by his many friends in the real estate community. Tony was a great fan and supporter of the arts in San Diego, particularly The Old Globe. Tony also supported the less fortunate and spent many hours helping the homeless at St. Vincent de Paul Villages. Tony will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity of spirit. To so many, he was a "friend" in the truest sense of the word. He was fun-loving, generous to a fault and always there to help a friend in need. He was loved and will truly be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Tony is survived by his mother Connie Aldape of Boise, Idaho, his niece Linda Williams, nephew Barry Platt and his brother-in-law Charles Platt. Tony is preceded in death by his father Frank Aldape and sister Rebecca Platt. A remembrance will be held Sunday, September 17th at 1:30 p.m. adjacent to the Visitor's Center at Mission Bay Park. Tony had such a good heart to everyone. I met Tony when he was a neighbor to my aunt and uncle on Front St. in San Diego, Bunker Hill area. I have since moved to Las Vegas and have been trying to move back to SD to help my aunt who he was very fond of. He helped her in many ways and I am so very appreciative of that. Tony is in my aunt's heart as well as in mine. He will be dearly missed.

Tony and Cosmo lived next door to us at Mission Bay Condos for at least 3 yrs. If I ever needed anything he was there for my son and I. He was a dad to my son who is now 17 showing him how to cook, help him with homework and just his love was always there. When he moved there was an emptiness knowing I couldn't watch the news or jeopardy with him nightly. Now I will look out on Mission Bay each night and know that he is in our hearts and watching out for us. Love and miss you baby.

Tony, for over 20 years you made a grey world burst with color. Your wit brought joy to those fortunate enought to share in your life. Thank you! Your soul remains with us bringing continued strength and wonderful memories.

I had the distinct honor and privilege to call Tony my friend. I first met Tony when he represented me in the sale of my home some years back. From that day on we became good friends. He was always there for me to offer his advice, wit and wisdom. His passing has left a hole in my heart. May all of us who knew and loved Tony take comfort in knowing that nothing that is loved is ever lost and no one who has ever touched a heart can really pass away because some beauty lingers on in each memory of which they have been a part.
