Resident of Santa Cruz
Laura Logan, 59, passed away in Santa Cruz on the night of October 15, 2012. Her friends and family watched her fight a battle with cancer with profound courage and strength. Born to Stanley and Elaine Lato in Gilman, Wisconsin, she was the second oldest of six, and grew up on a farm with her four sisters and one brother. She received her BA degree in Psychology English in 1976 from the University of Wisconsin in La Crosse.
In 1982 she moved to Carmel and in 1985 to Santa Cruz. She married David Logan in 1989 and their son Dana was born in 1990. She started her own publishing company, Dakota Books, in 1992. She worked as a legal secretary at law offices in Aptos and Capitola, where she loved her jobs and the people she worked with. Laura will be remembered as a caring, joyful person with lots of friends and family. She had an inspiring attitude and outlook on life. She loved to read and write, and had a large collection of books, She enjoyed being outdoors, camping, skiing, and visiting the ocean and Lake Tahoe.
Laura is survived by her son Dana of Soquel, her partner, Jim Jacquard of Santa Cruz as well as her mother, Elaine Lato, her five siblings and 13 nieces and nephews in Wisconsin and Illinois. She is preceded in death by her husband, David in 1999 and her father Stan Lato.
A celebration of Laura's life will be on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 12 Noon at Delaveaga Park, George Washington Picnic Area, Santa Cruz. If you would like to send your condolences to Laura's family, share your memories, view or post photos, light a candle, please visit www.scmemorial.com
