WILLIAM IHDE Obituary

IHDE, WILLIAM (BILL) M. - age 90, of Knoxville, Tennessee, joined his heavenly Father on Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born September 29, 1923, in Sapporo, Japan, Bill served proudly in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from MA Institute of Technology as an electrical engineer and lived and worked in LaGrange, Illinois, until his retirement to Tennessee in 1989. Bill was a life-long Shriner and Mason. He is preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Irene M. Ihde; and his brother, Stanley. Bill was the beloved husband of Joanna (nee Morgan) for 69 years; loving father of Sarah (James) Dore, Marthe (Michael) McLinden, and William (Jamie) Ihde; proud grandfather of Gayle (Brian), Jason, David (Heidi), Daniel, William, Brian, and Colin; and great grandfather of Destiny, Sydney and Liam; devoted brother of Betty (nee Ihde) Gartrell; and loved by seven nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Good Samaritan Episcopal Church, 425 North Cedar Bluff Road, Knoxville, TN 37923, on Monday, June 2, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Bill's family has asked that donations in his memory be directed to the music fund at Good Samaritan Episcopal Church or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
