CADY HINE Obituary

Cady Jeanne Hine July 8, 1987 - April 1, 2012 Cady was the much loved daughter of Cynthia Jeanne (deceased) and James William Hine. Cady means "Little Warrior" and that she was. She fought battles all her life- for her brother, mother, friends, and for herself. We remember Cady as bright and beautiful with sparkling brown eyes, a generous smile, a great sense of humor, and a keen intellect. She loved her father, brother, and pets above all else. Cady is survived by her father Jim, stepmother Martha, brother Andrew, uncle Brad, grandparents Jeanne Dyer and Lorraine and Bill Hine and too many loving aunts, uncles and cousins to name here. Cady's life was short but full- of struggles and triumphs. We wish her peace at last. Cady graduated Summa Cum Laude and was Salutatorian at Drew School in San Francisco, where she was captain of her the varsity soccer team and editor of the school newspaper. Cady was a junior at Stanford University pursuing an English major. Cady was very active in promoting mental health issues at Stanford and in Palo Alto. Donations may be made in her name to: Bridge Peer Counseling Center 581 Capistrano Way Stanford, CA. 94305 Memorial Services will be held on Sunday April 15 at 2:30 pm at Drew School 2901 California Street, at Broderick, in San Francisco in the Sam Cuddeback III Performing Arts wing. Flowers can be sent, if desired, to 2826 Sacramento, San Francisco, CA 94115. They will be transported to the service.

Cady was a vibrant, sweet and wonderful young lady. I had the pleasure of working with her at TLC for some time. It saddens me to know that such a lovely girl left us so early. I will never forget her smile and laughs at my dumb jokes. Rest in peace Cady, you will always be remembered.

Much love, Chuck

I first met Cady at a grief workshop at Stanford in 2006--her mother had just passed, just as my father had the summer before. I remember her work through the Stanford Peace of Mind project, through which she was strong and still struggled and yet was still strong.

I learned recently that Cady means "little warrior", and that she was, a little warrior. Cady I will miss you. May your spirit and strength live on.

Dearest Jim, Martha, & Andrew – Your memorial for Cady was lovely. Over the years, I've often mulled over the meaning of the word "grace" yet rarely have come up with a suitable definition. However, watching you each navigate this impossibly heart-breaking event in your own way, especially your collective ability to cherish the good moments with Cady while acknowledging her challenges is truly grace-in-action. I am in awe of your humor, love, courage and open-heartedness at this time.

Cady's life was all too brief, yet she was truly blessed and fortunate to call you her family. Joy and pain are kin: you honor Cady's memory and struggles by holding both up to the light with such admirable equipoise.

Knowing you and being part of your lives has been one of my greatest gifts. Please know I am here for you always as you integrate this unspeakable loss.

Much love and mirth to each of you!

Jim, Martha,Andrew & family, we are so saddened to hear this news. Very sad, in tears thinking about your heartache. Cady was amazing, really a warrior. Samurai. I looked up the the code of the Japanese samurai, Bushido, and it includes "compassion for those of lower station, and for the preservation of one's name. Early bushido literature further enforces the requirement to conduct oneself with calmness, fairness, justice, and propriety. The relationship between learning and the way of the warrior is clearly articulated, one being a natural partner to the other." And so she was. Our thoughts and hearts are with you. love, Yvonne and Norm

Dear Hine Family,

Cady and I were both in East Flo our freshman year. I have very fond memories of her. She was always very kind to me at a time when I felt apart from my peers. I wish you all the ability to grieve fully and move from your grief when it's possible.

Dear Hine family,
I was Cady's roommate at santiago and im so very very sad to hear of this. We had great times together for the eight months we lived together. She was able to meet many people in the area and they immediately loved her. I'm so very sorry and my prayers are with you always.
