IRENE LUNARDI Obituary

Irene Elizabeth Lunardi
July 20, 1929 - Oct. 8, 2012
Resident of San Mateo
Irene was the beloved wife of Alfred Lunardi; cherished mother of Paul Lunardi and the late Ralph Lunardi; dear sister of Anna B. Geisel; daughter of the late William and Anna Geisel.
She was everyone's mother and she was very influential in everyone's life. Irene touched all who knew her.
She was a native San Franciscan and attended Commerce High School. Irene met her beloved husband, Alfred in 1955 and they were married in 1957. In 1958 she had her first son Ralph Lunardi and in 1961 she had her second son Paul Lunardi. She was an avid reader and loved to play Bocce Ball and also was a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers and Giants. She also had a passion for cooking. At every store the Lunardi Family opened, she always prepared the first basket of strawberries for the grand opening of each location.
Friends and family are invited to a Rosary at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, 300 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 7:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be held also at St. Bartholomew's Church on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 12:00pm. Interment to follow at Italian Cemetery, Colma, Ca.
Donations may be made in Irene's name to UCSF, Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1600 Divisadero Street, 4th Floor, San Francisco, Ca 94115-3010.

All of the Employees and Family of Marra Bros. Dist. Inc. were deeply saddened by the news of Mrs. Lunardi's passing. She was a very special lady and I feel fortunate to have known her. I will always remember her smile. To Mr. Lunardi, Paul and the Lunardi Family although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer.

My first memories of Irene are from 1987.I had just started working for the Lunardis on the night crew in Los Gatos. She and Alfredo would come in early on Saturday mornings and she would put up strawberries. I was always amazed that she would come in so early and work so hard. Over the years whenever I would see her in the store or at a company function she was always dressed so nicely, always had a big smile, and most of all was so very friendly. You will always be missed by me and everyone else who knows you. Rest in peace Mrs. L! Your friend Steve
