Tom Spinosa Obituary

Tom Spinosa Was born June 6th, 1915 and died Oct. 20th, 2008, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, Ca. He was a native San Franciscan, and he was well known in the city. He ran for political office here many times, always winning the Republican nomination, and the republican primaries. He ran against Philip Burton and Moscone. He was endorsed by Ronald Reagan, who elected him as state commissioner. He was also on the Republican county central committee. He owned a small record company, "Cavalier Records, and wrote and produced songs. He had his own 16 piece orchestra, and performed at venues like the Fairmont, and Top of the Mark. He was also a member of Screen Actors Guild, and did bit parts in movies. His service in the military saw him through 2 wars, WWII, as a purser/ pharmacist in the U.S merchant marines and as a Lieutenant Commander in Vietnam. He was an exceptional man, in so many ways and I treasure the memories I have of him and me walking the streets of San Francisco. I always marveled at the people who he knew, and who admired him. He was an eternal optimist, with a winning smile, and a strong handshake... He always told me if you're going to go after something in life, do it in a big way, not a small way, it requires almost the same amount of energy? He is survived by his wife, Shirley Spinosa; and his children, Frankie Frank, Don Spinosa, Carolyn Scott, Margaret Gross, Vicki and Jason Spinosa. His services will be held in Burbank, Ca, at the "Valley funeral home" on Sunday, Nov. 2nd at 3:00pm

My parents knew Tom and he was my first brush with politics. I remember him (and his handshake) as "the man of many hats." I liked that and also your obit. Doing something big...great quote, great man. P.S. I am now an inspector on election day and open my garage to voters.

Dear Shirley;
I am sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He was a great friend of my father's and shared so much in common. I remember him fondly from our years on the Republican Central Committee.
