I was recruited by coach Tringali when he made the move to USF. I was very interested in playing for him because I knew everything about his winning ways at SI. But my goal was to move away from the city by the bay so I took a scholarship down in southern California. He was a true class act the only person I can compare him to is Alex Schwartz my offensive line coach at city college. RIP coach Tringali

Now Vince joins me in SF Prep Hall of Fame, inducted in 2023. My history teacher, allowed me as Sports Editor to show his offense in print, and once told me about being my coaching at Lowell that would never be duplicated. That was Vince. Glad to be at the ceremony at Basque. RIP.--John Donohue,SI 1969

I never missed a football game in my 4 years at SI. Ever since the first school rally held in the old gym, I was completely hooked. The team was fabulous, coach Tringali was an absolutely riveting focused field general. There were never better football games than those from from 63-67. I had Vince for Public Speaking & English what a guy! He was and is a legend and a real life hero. God Bless, Vince, thanks for everything.

To the entire family I send my deepest condolences and prayers. Vince was my football coach at St. Ignatius high school. He taught me discipline, clean play and fortitude. He helped me to earn a scholarship to Oregon State University. I was able to see and talk to him many times during my years aound the Bay Area. He was always friendly to me, concerned about my well-being, and gentlemanly. I ask God to bless and keep him at peace, and I pray that God will give peace to the entire family. We send our condolences to you in this time of sadness and loss. Although we did not know Vince personally, the Martins were fortunate to know Jean as she helped to deliver all nine Martin children, including the "Martin Triplets" at Mount Zion Hospital. Jean,Vince and Lisa,
Our deepest sympathy with the loss of coach.
He was such a driving force in my youth at SI. My fondest memories along with other teammates is our 19 straight wins in '62-63. The chalk talks and practices.....how we were exposed to 'Life in general"....what memories.
While all of our hearts are heavy at this time his legacy will pull us through a difficult time just as it did a long time ago. we were so very fortunate to have had Coach in our lives. God bless all of you and thank you for sharing your husband and father to all of us.

When I was a freshman and junior at St. Ignatius on Stanyan Street, Vince taught me the following lesson in my English class: "You can never tell how stupid a person is until they open their mouth." That simple lesson has saved my rear more times than I can count, and . . . I've taught it to my children. Thank you, Vince. My sympathies to the Tringalis. We have lost a prince and warrior.

These last 15+ years of knowing you have been educational, enlightening and special to me. You seemed to always search out approval from me when writing Kuharich speeches and I was honored to give you my honest opinion, though you never needed it. These speeches were always the most heart warming and spoken with such eloquence. Foolish of me to think that you were always going to be around...there's certainly a celebration going on upstairs since you have joined the other Kuharich boys! God bless you Vince, I will certainly miss your talks.
