Giovanni Balistreri Obituary

Giovanni Balistreri Giovanni passed away peacefully on February 24, 2013 at the age of 93. He was born on November 19, 1919 in Porticello, Sicily, Italy. He was the son of Onofrio and Filippa Balistreri and the late husband of Julia Ilaria Balistreri, brother of Francesco Balistreri and the late Guiseppe, Antonino and Maria Balistreri and Ida Cefalu. He also leaves many nephews and nieces. He was a commerical fisherman for many years. After retiring from fishing he worked at Florence Delicatessen in North Beach. He was a member of the Madonna Del Lume Sodality at Sts. Peter & Paul Church.
Viewing and rosary will be held at Green St. Mortuary on Thursday, February 28, rosary begins at 7pm. A funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am on Friday, March 1, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 666 Filbert Street, S.F. with interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, CA. In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice of the East Bay, 3470 Buskirk Avenue, Pleasant Hill, CA94523 or the Salesian Boys and Girls Club, 680 Filbert Street, San Francisco, CA 94133.

Sincerest sympathies to all of Uncle John's family members...especially Nephew John Cefalu and his family whom the Olvera Family has known for many years. May Uncle John Rest in Peace. Mrs. Georgia Olvera and family...formerly of Concord, Ca., and now all in Southern California.
