Thomas Murray Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Murray

Sheboygan - Thomas "Tom" Murray, age 79, of Sheboygan passed away peacefully Sunday morning, October 28, 2018 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Tom was born June 13, 1939 in Sheboygan to the late Raymond and Theresa (Novak) Murray. He attended St. Peter Claver school and was a 1957 graduate of Central High School. Tom was united in marriage to the former Janet Huibregtse on May 5, 1962 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church where he was also a member. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Tom was employed by Thomas Industries for a short time prior to working for the Sheboygan Fire Department. He retired as a lieutenant with the fire department in 1990 after 29 years of service. Tom also worked part-time with Hensel Moving and Kroos-Mason Funeral Home. Some of Tom's favorite times were spent with family and close friends. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, hunting with his Spider Club, being a member of the Standard Oaks Club and his weekly trips north. Tom and his wife, Jan, enjoyed traveling to Europe, Alaska, and many other trips throughout the United States. He will always be remembered for his routine Friday nights where he entertained others with his gadgets and garnishes. Most of all, Tom loved to spend time with his grandchildren, sharing his stories and words of wisdom.

Survivors include his loving wife Jan, two daughters: Connie (Bob) Morgan of Sheboygan, and Debbie (Scott) Babino of Sheboygan, seven grandchildren: Paul (Jackie) Novak, Alyssa Morgan, Eric Morgan, Matthew Morgan, Kayla Babino, Jason Babino and Carly (Alex) Holmes, two great-grandsons Thomas and Parker Novak, three sisters Barbara (Dave) Adams of Sheboygan, Kathleen (Leroy) Rau of Sheboygan Falls, and Linda (Al) Senkbeil of Elkhart Lake, sister-in-law Eloise Murray, brother-in-law Horst Felter and sister-in-law Nancy Huibregtse. Tom is further survived by numerous other cherished family and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother and best friend James (Lorraine) Murray, brother Joseph Murray, sisters Patricia Felter and Joan (Robert) Van Der Sande and by other family members who welcomed him home to paradise.

Family and friends may call at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 3-6 p.m. Memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Fr. Paul Fliss officiating.

Jan,
I was sad to hear about Tom's passing. Tom and I worked together just a short time at Sta. 3. He was very well liked and respected. I remember a time when someone brought in some rhubarb and Tom made the best rhubarb custard pie I've ever had. My wife just loved his potato salad. Many good memories!
Prayers for you and family.
