Thomas Patrick Murray, 80, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in
Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Born on February 20, 1945, in
Hawley, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Evelyn (Monaghan) Murray.
After graduating from Wallenpaupack Area High School, Thomas proudly joined the United States Air Force, where he served with honor and distinction before his honorable discharge. Following his military service, Thomas continued his lifelong commitment to public service by joining the Pennsylvania State Police. After a successful career in law enforcement, he once again answered the call to serve-this time rejoining the military as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army. He later continued his dedication to the Commonwealth through his work with the Attorney General's Office.
Beyond his professional life, Thomas was happiest outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish, finding peace and joy in the quiet beauty of nature. He also shared his passion for firearm safety as a proud NRA Instructor, helping others learn with care and responsibility.
Thomas will be deeply missed by his son, Christopher T. Murray of Aurora, Colorado; his daughter, Michelle Barnes of Harrisburg; and his beloved grandchildren, Ethan Barnes, Brooke Barnes, Miles Murray, and Eli Murray. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Linda Kay Murray, who passed away on July 5, 2023; his stepson, David J. Wilbert; and his sister, Joan Volkemer.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Interment with full Military Honors will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Thomas's memory may do so through contributions to Troopers Helping Troopers, the
Wounded Warrior Project, or the National Rifle Association-organizations that reflect his lifelong service and dedication.
