Frank Blackburn Obituary

Frank Blackburn

Bossier City - Frank Blackburn, 77, born to Paul Byron and Eva June Blackburn on February 11, 1944, in Paris, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2021 in Bossier City.

Frank was a 1962 graduate of Bossier High School. A few years after graduation he bought the family business, Blackburn Radiator, from his father. Frank was well-respected and loved by many people in the community. He was a member of the Bossier Lion's Club and past president of the Bossier Jaycees. Frank was elected as Bossier City Councilman at Large and later served as Mayor of Bossier City. He worked with the Bossier Parish Sheriffs' Office as a patrol deputy and in the warrants division. He also served the Shreveport-Bossier community as a member of the Caddo-Bossier Port Commission and went on to become Executive Director. Frank returned to Blackburn Radiator and retired in 2009. He lived a busy and fulfilling life, taking part in some of his favorite hobbies, including boating, hunting, and scuba diving. He also enjoyed NASCAR and visiting with friends during his daily Waffle House visits.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Eva. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Josh Blackburn and wife Stephanie, of Bossier City; Lindsey Blackburn, of Shreveport; Anna Crenshaw and her husband Brady, of Shreveport; grandchildren, Will, Alex, and Baylee Blackburn, Mamie Smitherman, and Ezra and Naomi Crenshaw; siblings, Robert Paul Blackburn and wife Arleen, of Glendora, California; Rudy Blackburn and wife Malissa, of Bossier City, Louisiana; and Dixie Bowles of Raleigh, North Carolina. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

Honoring Frank as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Will Blackburn and Alex Blackburn; his nephews, Jim Blackburn, Heath Blackburn, Rick Blackburn, Rob Blackburn, David Bowles, and family friend, Robert Morris. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Kevin Bowles.

The family would like extend a special thanks to Dr. Ted Warren, Brandy Frybarger, Frank's favorite nurse, the staff at Colonial Oaks, and Regional Hospice for all their care and support given to Frank and his family.

Funeral Services for Frank will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Bellaire Baptist Church in Bossier City at 11:00 am, officiated by Dr. Randy Harper. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the chapel at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
