NORTH LIBERTY - John Adam Sheneman, 84 years old, passed away at 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. John was born on May 12, 1936 in North Liberty to the late Franklin N. and Martha Beatrice (Banks) Sheneman. He has remained a lifelong area resident. On August 19, 1956 in North Liberty, John and Margaret Gloria Garver were united in marriage.
Along with his loving wife, Gloria, of 64 years, John is survived by his three children, Nancy Jane (Mark) Noffke of Naperville, IL, John Adam (Paula) Sheneman of Bunnell, FL, and Todd Andrew (Penny) Sheneman of South Bend; four grandchildren, Anne (Mathew) Nord, Stephen (Jamie) Noffke, Daryl (Amanda) Sheneman, and Andrew (Diane) Sheneman; seven great grandchildren, Chase Carter, Alex Nord, Maggie Nord, Theo Noffke, Lena Noffke, John Adam Sheneman IV, and Alice Sheneman; and one brother, Roland Sheneman of Florida. John is also survived by his Finnish son and his family who was an exchange student in 1978-1979, Vesa Pollari of Finland. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Katrina Marie Carter; and one brother, Dale Sheneman.
John retired from Allied Signal in 1998 after 18 years of employment. He was a member of the North Liberty Masonic Lodge, F & AM, Orak Shrine of Michigan City, and Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. John volunteered many years transporting children to the Shriner's Hospital in Chicago. He loved working with his hands.
A Celebration of the Resurrection of the Dead will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 225 Haney Avenue, South Bend. Pastor Jeff Zell will officiate. Masonic Graveside Services will follow at Porter Rae Cemetery, North Liberty, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Palmer Funeral Home, North Liberty is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of John A. Sheneman may be donated to North Liberty Masonic Lodge #266, P.O. Box 722, North Liberty, IN 46554, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 225 Haney Avenue, South Bend, IN 46613 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
