I met Roderice at church. He and I accidentally discovered that we had the same last name. Later, he invited his grandfather so that we could make a family connection. I found him to be a man of great depth and passion. He was genuinely humble, despite his tremendous talent. He was never pretentious! Anything he did, he did it with a level of commitment that is uncommon today. The last time I saw him was at Lidl. I walked into the store and saw those eyes. His face was hidden behind a mask. But, those eyes exuded a familiarity--a excited peace. I spoke to him, but didn't recognize who he was in my haste. Later, when full recognition came, I hit him up on Facebook. I apologized and he comforted me. He was just a good person, always delivering grace. He was rare, by earthly standards. I will NEVER forget him!
Love you cousin,
Paul

I met Rod on a the paint aisle at Michaels years ago and we talked for a while about art. We ended up connecting on social media that day. I didn’t realize the type of friendship that moment would give me. Rod was this magnetic man that had a way of making it easy to be vulnerable and deep in conversation with. He always seemed to have the right words when I needed them. He pushed me not only as an artist but as a person to see the light in any situation. The first time Rod ever wanted to see my art I was hesitant. I admired him and his many talents but also his heart. I remember telling him my art was not as good as his. He said, “art is for everyone” and “art is good for everyone.” Those words meant more to me than he will ever know.

I can already feel the gravity his absence creates. So many words left unspoken. I find myself thinking of the last time I saw his face, the conversation, his laugh, that smile. I’ll miss you more than I can put into words my dear friend. Your loss is one that shakes me and this community. A man of so many talents but so humble. I will always cherish those deep conversations that only two scorpios creatives could cook up. It’s unreal this feeling.

My condolences and prayers for the family at this trying time.

Rod gave me true friendship. He gave me confidence to share my own art, a safe space to talk about anything, and he lit up passion with everything he did. He is one of the most talented, humble, giving people I've ever met and I'll miss him immensely. the MADDD legacy will live forever.
