Emery, Jr.
Robert E. "Bob" Muzzy, Jr. was born in Baker, OR on March 28, 1937 to Robert E. and Ruby J. Muzzy. He passed away at his home in Spokane, WA surrounded by family on January 14, 2012 after a short battle with lung cancer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sons Cameron D. Muzzy and Robert W. "Bobby" Muzzy, and first wife Cara Lee Muzzy. Survived by his loving wife of 25-years, Karen, and children Shari Muzzy of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Kathy (Bill) Meister of Scottsdale, AZ, Shaun Muzzy of Spokane, and Dawn Exline of Huntington Beach, CA, as well as stepchildren Mike (Tami) Gaffney of Benicia, CA, Bill (Becky) Gaffney of Spokane, Terri (Darryl) Christensen of Spokane, and Jenny (Blake) Harp of Washougal, WA. He is also survived by siblings Donna (Roger) Glanville, Syd (Karen) Muzzy and Jude (Tom) Guyer, along with 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was raised in Sandpoint, ID, and graduated from North Central High School of Spokane in 1955. During his high school years he started working for his grandfather who was a commission agent for Standard Oil Co. in Clyde, WA. He later took over his grandfather's position and in 1971 moved his family to Coeur d'Alene, ID. In 1980 he bought out Chevron's interest in the business and continued to own and operate Muzzy Oil Co. until his retirement in 2002.
Bob served as a jet mechanic in the Air National Guard and was a long time member of the Lion's Club. He loved to play golf wherever he traveled, especially the courses of Maui. He was a collector of wine with a special affection for classic Port.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 20th, at 11 am, at St. Peter Catholic Church (3520 E. 18th Ave., Spokane, WA 99203). Private inurnment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

I had some coffee today from one of my dad's old cups with Robert Muzzy Jr. name and his Standard Oil logo. Remembering Bob when he operated out of the Clyde, WA plant when I was young, and out of curiosity googled his name bringing me to this page. Dad (now deceased) had an aerial crop dusting business and the family farm interest buying a lot of petroleum product from Bob. (aircraft fuel, diesel, gas, and cleaning solvent). Bob's granddad must have been Rube Graves whom I also remember. Very well respected. Dad bought Rube's 1941 Dodge Power Wagon in the early 1950s and used it in the business. For an old truck, it was really powerful. Bob was very active in the Prescott/Clyde/Eureka community, supplied product to many farmers and to K2H irrigation at Eureka, and was missed when he and his family moved. Wishing his extended family the best.

My Grandpa,
Who worked his way from the bottom to be a successful businessman and large family man which helped instilled that work ethic in me that I continue to fulfill to today.
Memories of all my uncles and aunts growing up on the lake that they were so powerful, fun and charismatic all who are all so special in their own way, shaped me to be the man I am today.
My grandpa and I were able to spend time golfing together in Maui and shared special moments watching Whales breech in the ocean.
My grandpa was a very generous man which I carry with me from him always to others.
You are missed dearly and I hope I am carrying the Muzzy name with dignity and making you proud.
Thank you Karen for be the best grandma, amazingly loving and supportive but just a great person in general. I am grateful to have you in my life.

Karen. Mary and I were saddened to learn of Bob's passing. He was a great friend and partner in the early development of Avondale Golf Course. I love my brother. Though the distance and careers didn't let us be together as much we would have like, but our love for one another was true. The man I am today has a great deal to do with our Grandfather and my brother. Two men who have instilled me the work ethic and determination I have to this day. I am blessed and very proud to have him as my brother. From Driving Truck for him, working Fishhook Park, sharing careers and families and playing golf, my memories will joy filled.
Karen, Thank you for being such a wonderful part of his life. You brought great joy to him.

Bob and I had many fun rounds of golf at Avondale Golf Course in the early 1970s. Readlly enjoyed playing with him. He was always in a good mood. Condolences to the family. Bob was a good man.
