PIERATT Jr., John Moss

John Moss Pieratt, Jr. was born on February 5, 2013 in Houston, Texas, and went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2014. Moss' short life filled our hearts with more joy than he could ever know. He was truly a gift from God, and we are grateful for his life. He was the friendliest little boy whose abundant energy and happiness was contagious to everyone who met him. Moss never met a stranger and brought a smile to everyone that he encountered.

He celebrated his first birthday earlier this year with a football-themed party on Super Bowl Sunday among lots of family and friends. Moss enjoyed Easter last week at his family's adored ranch in Marble Falls with his family and cousins. He had recently started walking and loved his newfound freedom. His family will forever cherish these memories, as well as time spent watching Sesame Street and Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, his two favorite TV shows. Music was also a big part of Moss' life, in particular Wee Sing bible songs and attending his music class in Houston.

He is survived by his parents, Jessica Jenkins Pieratt and John Moss Pieratt; maternal grandparents, Janice Whiting Jenkins and Robert Williams (Bobby) Jenkins, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Ann Moss Pieratt and John David Pieratt and beloved aunts and uncles: Will Pieratt Demond, Kathleen Bates Pieratt and Robert Wilson Pieratt and their daughter Lucille Clare Pieratt, Chelsea Ann Jenkins and Robert Williams Jenkins, III. He is also survived by his maternal great-grandmothers Sandra Patterson Jenkins and Ann Hutchins Whiting, and his loving extended family.

Moss is predeceased by his maternal great-grandfathers, Robert Williams Jenkins and Winslow Whiting; and his paternal great-grandparents Kathleen Margaret Moss and John Arthur Moss; Laura Lee Wilson Pieratt and William Harold Pieratt.

Following a private burial, the memorial for Moss will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 3201 Windsor Road, in Austin. Overflow parking with shuttle service will be available at WAYA (1314 Exposition Boulevard), beginning at 9:45a that morning.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful team of EMS, Fire Department, Police, and many devoted nurses and doctors at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas; the commitment, compassion and care they gave to Moss will be forever remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Good Shepherd Episcopal School, 2206 Exposition Boulevard, Austin, TX, 78703.
