Charles "Charley" Engelfried

November 20, 1993 - February 2, 2011

DALLAS - Charles "Charley" Engelfried, a resident of Dallas, Oregon died on Thursday, February 3rd in Silverton Hospital after winning his wrestling match at Silverton High School. Charley was born on November 20, 1993 in Portland, Oregon the son of Charles and Nicole McWhirter Engelfried. Charley was a Junior at Dallas High School. He loved sports and had played sports all of his life and was active in wrestling, football and track. Charley's coaches were his mentors which he looked up to. Charley was a role model and leader. He led by example. Charley was always helping and directing others. Charley was a team leader for Relay For Life. He was getting ready to compete in the Mr. Dallas Competition at Dallas High School which was the annual Doernbecher Children's Hospital fundraiser. Charley had a love for cooking and was an exceptional cook. Charley built an outdoor kitchen for his parents which was enjoyed by his family and Charley's friends and teammates. His favorite lunchtime meal was an Oregon Burrito with extra sour cream from La Herradura in Dallas. Charley was quite an accomplished drummer. He enjoyed going to the sand dunes with his ATV. Charley enjoyed working on his Jeep Comanche Pickup that his grandpa had gotten for him. Charley was employed at Capitol Auto Group. After wrestling season he was looking forward to helping pave the way for the new Capitol Auto Group that is currently under construction. He was always there when someone needed help. Charley was always the one to think outside of the box and figuring things out on his own. Charley always had a kind word for others. He was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. Charley knew how to make people laugh.

He is survived by his parents, Charles and Nicole, brother, Nicholas, grandfather, Wayne McWhirter, uncles and aunts, Doug and Venessa McWhirter, Kenneth and Curtis Engelfried, Joan Nowaczyk.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, February 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Dallas High School Football Stadium. Visitation will be Thursday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. Memorials may be made to OSU Federal Credit Union in Charley's name in care of Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. Interment will be in Dallas Cemetery. I knew him in second grade a Faith Christian school a great boy he was .He loved the Lord and others around him . He made us laugh at the way he talked sometimes Like Elvis presley love you very much.
He will be missed but now he is with the Lord party time up there .
we will see him again when we get called home in Gods time

Charley will be greatly missed over the weekend I had the oppourtunity to learn a lot about his since of humor from my son Samuel Orozco he and Charley were team mates on the Dallas High Football team. Charley impacted Sam's life tremendously! My thoughts and prayers are with his family I am not a stranger to the loss of a child.
