Matthew Popielarz Obituary

Popielarz, Matthew, succumbed to Alzheimer's on September 18, 2012. He was a renowned artist, well known for his vibrantly colored paintings depicting New York City and South Beach street scenes. His art work resides in public and private collections the world over. He grew up in Upstate New York and after serving in World War II, he remained in Bamberg, Germany studying at the Bamberg Fine Arts School. He relocated to Ft. Lauderdale and continued painting and displaying his art at artshows and many galleries. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn McGuigan Popielarz; son, Mark Alan; daughter-in-law, Patricia; daughter Marcy; nieces; nephews; and many friends and fellow artists. Military honors service at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL, 1:30 p.m. on October 10. Donations may be made to the University of Miami, Lowe Art Museum, Coral Gables, FL.
