There are so many of us who owe so much to Buck Thornbury. In my time at Pasadena Golf Club, from the early 70's to the mid 80's, the atmosphere of golf and friendship was unmatched by anyplace I've been since. And the catalyst for that atmosphere was Bucky. He set the tone of competition that we all lived for, and thrived on. I've been gone for 27 years now and I still remember those times like they were yesterday, and I remember Bucky as he was then, the strongest of all of us, and the coolest. Hell, he even looked cool in those hideous leisure suits! I'm filled with sorrow that he is gone so soon, but thankful that he understood at the end how many lives he touched.

An old friend with a cogent, simple approach to golf who was always affable, especially in the face of adversity. Bless his family, as I remember him very fondly.
