David James Thornbury, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on September 8, 2025, at the age of 71. Dave was born on April 6, 1954, in Grand Rapids.

From a young age, Dave exhibited a keen interest in craftsmanship and creation. His hands were rarely still; they were always busy grilling, building, or meticulously restoring motorcycles-a testament to his artistic flair and technical expertise. His passion extended to the joys of construction, spending countless hours remodeling and building homes.

Artistry was a recurring theme in Dave's life, channeling his imagination into making toys and crafts that delighted both young and old.

Dave's love for his family shone brightest of all. His playful spirit was ever-present, most notably in his harmless antics of jokingly pulling his sisters' toes when they were young, reminding them always of the light-hearted bond they shared. He was a steadfast presence, supplying strength and unfaltering love, the kind that supports a family through the brightest days and the darkest nights.

Not one to be idle, Dave's zest for the great outdoors was complemented by his affinity for grilling and cooking out. With a spatula in hand and his beloved Boston Terrier puppies by his side, he was the king of his backyard domain. He will sadly be missed by all.

Dave is survived by his wife, Nancy Thornbury, sons, Jayson (Monica) Thornbury and Adam Thornbury, daughter, Carlie Davis, stepsons, Carl (Mary) Jacobs and Casey (Jen) Jacobs, siblings, Lee (Janet) Thornbury and Cherry Layle, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Stanlee Thornbury and Bernice Garza.

According to Dave's wishes no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Wings Home, 330 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010, will be appreciated. Please visit www.williamsgoresfuneral.com to share a memory or to leave a condolence message for Dave's family.
