Urbain N. Beaudin, 96

Worcester - Urbain N. Beaudin, 96, of Worcester, passed away peacefully with his family by his side in his daughter's home on April 4th.

Mr. Beaudin was married for 60 years to the late Cecile C. (Poulin) Beaudin who died in 2007. He is survived by his three children, Lenore R. Young and her husband, Steven of Worcester, Robert U. Beaudin and his wife, Paulette of Spencer and Donald A. Beaudin of Worcester; a sister, Dolores H. O'Connor of Worcester; three grandchildren, Kevin Young and his wife, Heidi, Lynn Crozier and her husband, Richard and Stephanie Foster and her husband, John; 6 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Mr. Beaudin is predeceased by a brother, Lorenzo "Larry" Beaudin and two sisters, Lucille tenHompel and Lucienne Wasiuk.

Urbain was born in Stanhope, Quebec son of the late Aìme and Exilda (Fontaine) Beaudin and moved to Graniteville, Vermont in 1928. He later moved to Worcester in 1942 and joined the United States Army serving during World War II. While in the army, Urbain was stationed in England and also in France and Belgium where he served as a chief interpreter.

Mr. Beaudin started his career with Kittredge Monuments in 1942 and later opened his own business, South Worcester Monuments – Beaudin Brothers. Urbain purchased Luce Package Delivery Service in 1962 and went to work for Notre Dame Cemetery in 1972 for 16 years in the capacity of superintendent and oversaw the building of the mausoleum at the cemetery. Mr. Beaudin continued working as the owner of Like-Nu Appliance for many year and as a Notary Public until 2010.

Urbain enjoyed many things throughout his long life, including fishing, boating, taking walks, playing cards and spending many years at Stiles Lake in Spencer with his family and friends.

He was a member of the Toastmasters where he served in the capacity of President, Vice President and Area Governor. Urbain also belonged to the Franco - American Club of Worcester, the Knights of Columbus where he attained the rank of 4th Degree Knight and the New England Cemetery Association and the Massachusetts Cemetery Association where he served both organizations as President.

The funeral will be held on Monday, April 9th at 11 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 11 in the funeral home before the service.
