John T. Guidera, 74, of Millville, NJ passed away on Thursday evening February 23, 2017 in the Inspira Medical Center, Vineland, NJ after a brief illness. John was born in Summit, NJ, grew up in East Orange and moved to Vineland in 1973 and later to Millville in 2008. He was the son of the late Eleanor (nee Terhune) & Thomas V. Guidera.

John retired from the State of N.J. as a social worker with 35 years of service. In retirement he worked as social worker at Creative Achievement in Vineland and as in class counselor for the Hammonton School District.

He was a man of many interests. As an avid sailor he was a member of the Union Lake Sailing club and the Traditional Small Craft Association. There were many days that he could be found sailing Union Lake chasing Maria and me in our kayaks. He was a prize winning artist, watercolor was his first love but he was becoming very proficient in oils also. He was past President of the South Jersey Artists Society and most proud of being accepted as a member of the American Artists Professional League in New York City and accepted into their juried show in 2016. He taught classes in water color painting and took classes himself to always improve his skills. John loved local history and spent many hours exploring the little towns and roads of south Jersey and reading everything ever written about the area.

John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gloria (nee Rose), 3 children; Maria, Suzanne, Vincent Guidera, Sr., a grandson, Vincent, Jr. and a brother Thomas Guidera.

Relatives & friends will be received on Saturday March 4th from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland NJ and again on Sunday March 5th from 2 PM to 6PM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux & St Stanislaus Kostka RC Church, 1235 George St., Plainfield NJ. Funeral mass will follow at 6PM. Burial will be private.
