Joseph John Guidera II
10/17/1967 - 06/13/2025
Joseph John Guidera II passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his family. Joe was born on October 17, 1967 in Summit, New Jersey to Patricia and Neil Guidera. Joe graduated from Hackettstown High School where he played lacrosse and was a member of the National Honor Society. From a young age, Joe was drawn to technology. Whether it was gadgets or the latest video game, his passion was clear early on. That spark grew into a lifelong dedication, guiding him toward a career where his love for tech truly came to life.
Joe graduated from Trenton State College (now known as The College of New Jersey) in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration. While in college, Joe was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and served with the Trenton State Campus Police. He valued these experiences deeply, as they helped shape his sense of discipline, responsibility and service to others.
Following graduation, he began his career in information technology as an analyst with Amerada Hess in New Jersey. He later spent a large portion of his career at Tosco/ConocoPhillips where he moved from Linden, New Jersey to Tempe, Arizona and finally to Houston, Texas with many international travels mixed in along the way. His technical acumen, industry knowledge and project management skills led to roles as a project engineer on various oil and gas capital projects. In the later part of his career, he worked as a project information manager at various companies, most recently at Worley.
Joe loved the beach. As a child he spent many summers at the Jersey Shore. As an adult he vacationed at the Outer Banks and Aruba for many years with his siblings and parents. In his later years, he enjoyed annual 4th of July trips to the beaches on Galveston's west end with his own family.
Joe liked good food. He loved to prepare food for his family, whether it was a weeknight meal or a holiday spread. Each summer he looked forward to serving as the grill master at the "grill n' chill" held at the neighborhood pool.
Of all his interests and loves, his greatest was that of being Daddy to his children. He was very supportive of their interests and activities, whether school, toys, video games, or sports. He would make sure they were dressed out and on time as he shuttled them to their various afterschool activities. He was their biggest supporter and fiercest advocate.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Neil Guidera and stepfather, Richard Reynolds. He is survived by his wife Sara, his son Andrew and daughter Elizabeth; his mother, Patricia Reynolds; stepmother Marion Guidera; his brothers Neil (Samantha) Guidera, Mark (Gina) Guidera, Scott (Belinda) Clark, and Derrick (Cathy) Clark; sisters Karen Rockwell, Michelle (Lou) Reynolds and Babette Reynolds; in-laws Joye and Joel Sterrett; sister-in-law Nancy Sterrett and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held on Monday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to The College of New Jersey, The 100 Club, the Stratford High School Booster Club, or the
charity of your choice.
We love you Joe. You were an amazing Daddy.
