Sharon, Erik
I share your grief over Keith's passing. He was truly a giant in his field, a good friend and an inspiration. I can't begin to express how much I feel we (in the Call of Cthulhu community) owe him. I remember him seated at a table in a small cafe near my surgery, with a cafe noir and a croissant in front of him, taking it all in, loving Paris and its suburbs, with his beret on his head, the quintessential American artiste blending in. I am so sorry we did not meet again.

Sharon, my deepest sympathies to you and Erik for your loss. I corresponded with Keith for many years, and without his support, encouragement and wise advice I would never have become the writer and journalist I am today. Keith's kindness and friendship will be truly missed by many around the world.

Dear Sharon and the entire Herber family -
Doc's passing has struck the roleplaying game hobby community like a hammer-blow. Like many, I never had the benefit of meeting Doc personally, yet had the benefit of knowing him through his wonderful published material and by e-mail correspondence (wherein Doc was always funny, smart, and very kind). He touched the lives of so many of us for the better - he will live on in our collective memories and wherever imaginations are sparked by the power of his wonderful writings. These (inadequate) words hope to express just what a special person he was to many of us.

Sharon, I know I speak for all of the guys in the Joe Willy Band when I say we will miss Doc's fine playing and sweet disposition. He was truly a talented and gentle soul that we will honor and remember every time we play, and make the notes that would make him happy. And we hope you will call on us for anything we can do to ease your pain, now and in the future.

I never knew Keith, but I followed his work on the "Call of Cthulhu" game. He regularly contributed to www.yog-sothoth.com as an entertaining and insightful voice for the gaming industry. He also provided an interesting history of CoC. I know that I speak for many fans when I say that Keith will be missed, but at least he left an enduring legacy in the gaming community.
