Lola Nablo

ArtistLAKELAND -- Mrs. Lola Elizabeth "Beth" Nablo of Lakeland died of kidney failure Wednesday (Feb. 26, 2003) at Highlands Lake Center. She was 87.Born in Calvert, Texas, on Oct. 8, 1915, she came to Lakeland from Key West four years ago. She was an artist and maintained studios in Washington, D.C., Buffalo, N.Y., Key West, Atlantic Highlands, N.J., and Lakeland. She attended Baylor College in Texas, and Centenary College in Louisiana.She was featured in an "Artist in the Keys" documentary that was sponsored by the Florida Arts Council, and in the fund-raising video for the Tennessee Williams Art Center. She attended Lakeside Baptist Church.Mrs. Nablo was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter C. Leabo and John L. Nablo. She is survived by her sons, Walter I. Leabo, Pineville, La., Jeffrey Nablo, Seaside; daughters, Ann Marie Riggs, Grand Cayman Island, Elizabeth Neumeister, Dallas; sister, Grace Cromer, Lakeland. Lakeland Funeral Home.
