HAINES CITY - Lorenzo Jones, age 61, died of heart failure Friday (November 23, 2007) at Heart of Florida Medical Center.
Born in Kissimmee, FL., on May 27, 1946, he graduated in '65 from Oakland High School in Haines City, FL. From there, he became a veteran, serving in Tinan Taiwan with the U.S. Air Force. He married his high school sweetheart, relocated to Raleigh, N.C., and retired after 35 years as a technical team leader for IBM. He recently moved to Haines City to assist his wife with his mother-in-law's healthcare. He enjoyed fishing and collecting antique cars.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jones of Haines City; a son Alton Jones of Raleigh, N.C.; 4 daughters, Tonnya Nance of West Palm Beach, Shanika Ethridge and Sheena Jones, both of Raleigh, N.C., Toschia Hogan of Jacksonville; 2 brothers, Lindsey Jones of Jacksonville, FL., and Earl Jones of St. Roberts, MO.; 2 sisters, Mary Alice Jones of Winston Salem, N.C., and Oasis Delores Locklear of Clanton, GA.; 9 grandchildren; mother-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Singleton, extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Alzheimer's Foundations. Visitation will be Fri. 6-8pm at Holmes Funeral Directors, 601 Claude Holmes, Sr. Ave., Haines City, FL. Services will be Sat. 2 p.m. at St. Mary's PBC, 2855 Orchid Dr., Haines City. Viewing held 1 hr. prior to service time.

Our thoughts and prayers to Lorenzo's family. I met Lorenzo and Mary in Boca Raton many years ago. Lorenzo always had a smile on his face and made me believe everything would be okay as long as you had trust in the Lord to see you thru the tough times in life. God Bless Lorenzo.

Zo... bro... you were truly a great man to know... following your footsteps helped me grow in that work environment we shared in Boca. Meeting and knowing you, helped to demonstrate some finer qualities and in your presence... we always knew that we were all in the presence of a gentleman. Your spirit will live on and having known you... certainly helped to shape me into a better man... to Cookie and the 'kids' the condolences of Donette, Roxanne and I. I truly wish I could have shared in Lorenzo's life celebration unfortunately I was out of the country and is, only minutes ago, learning of his untimely passing. My thoughts and prayers for strength and courage go out to Cookie and you my bro... we hope to meet someday at the Masters Retreat. Much Love...
