Lowell E. Cline

Muncie - Lowell E. Cline, 93, passed away peacefully Friday morning, February 16, 2018, at his residence.

He was born in Parker City on December 9, 1924 the son of James R. and Goldie (Evans) Cline, graduated from Parker High School, where he played basketball and baseball, and attended Taylor University. He served in the South Pacific during WWII with the US Navy and then received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Ball State University.

Mr. Cline was a farmer all of his life along with being a school teacher. He began his teaching career at Harrison Township and became principal, in early 1960's he taught at Muncie Central High School and then at Northside High School when it opened until his retirement in the mid 1980's.

He was a member of the Muncie American Legion Post #19 and enjoyed watching high school sports and 4-H Fairs especially those his grandchildren were in.

Surviving are two daughters, Carol E. Tell (husband, Paul) and Nancy E. Starke (husband, Donald); a son, David C. Cline; nine grandchildren, Rachel Backlund (husband, Ben), Amanda Star Cline, Elizabeth Ann Flores (husband, Ray), Nicholas Scott Cline, Alex Tell, Captain Edward Starke (wife, Mercedes), and Ethan, Eric and Miranda Starke; three great-grandchildren, Celes and Luke Backlund, and Henry Starke; several nieces and nephews; and his trusty dog, "Dink".

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary J.; a son, Scott Cline; and two sisters, Louise Chappell and Virginia Cline.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Military Rites by the US Navy and Veterans of Delaware County.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

Dear Cline Family, I am sorry to hear of the passing of your dad and loved one. Lowell was a good man, respected and loved by his students and peers. My daughter Kris & daughter-in-law Connie send their sympathy a great teacher of theirs. Due to my being out of town I will not be attending his service. Please except my sincere condolences.
