Alice Adams Obituary
She was born Feb. 23, 1921, in East Ryegate, the daughter of Joseph R. and Laura Rowe Alger.
She graduated from Bradford Academy in 1939, and YWCA School of Domestic Science, Boston, Massachusetts, in 1940.
On Feb. 3, 1946, she married Raymond H. "Bob" Adams in Fairlee.
During World War II, Mrs. Adams worked in a defense factory in Springfield, Massachusetts. Afterward, she was employed by numerous stores and restaurants in Fairlee. She was later assistant town clerk in West Fairlee and delivered mail for USPS.
She was a member of the Order of Easter Star, Rondo, Vermont Society of Mayflower Descendants, Vermont Historical Society, Vermont Sunshine Society and VOCA. She served as president of the Community Circle, co-chair of Fairlee PTA, organist at Fairlee Federated Church and Girl Scout leader.
She enjoyed gardening, walks, picnics, sewing, cooking, baking and traveling.
Survivors include four children, Charlotte Adams, of Fairlee, David Adams, of Poultney, Earl Adams, of Corinth, and R. Fred Adams, of Thetford Center; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1998; five brothers, John, Howard, Donald, Francis and Ivan Alger; and a granddaughter.
The celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. June 3, at Fairlee Community Church with a reception following. Burial will be in Fairlee Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairlee Community Church, 55 Town Common Road, P.O. Box 304, Fairlee, VT 05045; Bayada Hospice, 316 Main St., Norwich, VT 05055; Vermont Historical Society, 60 Washington St., Barre, VT 05641; Vermont Society of Mayflower Descendants, in care of Cynthia Roberts, Treasurer, 230 Blueberry Lane, Rutland, VT 05701; or a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements are by Hale Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Bradford.

Such wonderful memories of Alice; homemade rootbeer, birthday party for 89 1/2 years old and we got the presents. I treasure the bowl and cup and saucer; the summer I spent with the family and preparing new green beans while eating last years canned beans. love to C
