Mary Rowan Obituary

Mary A. Rowan, 68, of Pittston, and formerly of Hughestown, passed away Friday, November 5, 2010, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born in Pittston on April 28, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Mary G. Strubeck Murphy. She was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, class of 1959. She was employed as a legal secretary. Mary was a member of Blessed Sacrament, Hughestown, the Hughestown Hose Co. Women's Auxiliary and National Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Gerard P. Rowan, in 1974; son-in-law Carl L. Moyer; and brother-in-law, Michael Czar. Surviving are her daughter Mary Margaret Moyer, Pittston; granddaughter Hannah C. Moyer; sister Anna V. Czar, New Jersey; three nieces; one great-niece and one great-nephew. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 802 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Rock Street, Hughestown. Friends may call Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Online condolences may be made at www.peterjadoniziofuneralhome.com .
