Edith Beardsley Obituary

Beardsley, Edith J. AU SABLE FORKS Edith Jean (Hill) (McClure) Beardsley of Au Sable Forks died February 19, 2011 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, after a long illness. She was born in Cambridge, N.Y., October 28, 1930, the daughter of William and Harriet (Thompson) Hill. She grew up in Greenwich, N.Y. and attended Greenwich Central School. Edith moved to Albany in 1948, attended Briggs School of Beauty Culture, and worked at several shops in the area. In 1950 Edith attended Albany Business College and accepted a position at Albany Medical Center Hospital in the medical records department from which she retired in 1988. Edith married James A. McClure in 1965 at Trinity Methodist Church in Albany. James passed away in 1980. Edith married Loyal Beardsley in 1985, at the First Congregational Church in Albany. They lived in Albany until 1989 when they returned to Loyal's home in Au Sable Forks, N.Y. Loyal passed away in 1992. Edith is survived by her companion Russell (Rusty) Latour of Keeseville; two stepdaughters, Patricia Widener of Au Sable Forks, and Linda and Paul Galey of Latham; stepson Gary and Doris Beardsley of Albany; four grandchildren; eight great-grand children; her sister, Mary Lyons of Melrose; her brother William Hill of Arizona; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held February 24, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Au Sable Forks. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Au Sable Forks in the spring.
