Alice V. Koperda

Yorkville – Our loving mother, grandmother and friend Alice Koperda, 85, of Yorkville passed away at home on March 26, 2013. Alice was born March 22, 1928 in Utica, a daughter of Lansing and Josephine (Gadziala) Best. She married her sweetheart John Koperda on August 7, 1948 at Holy Trinity Church, a loving union of 61 years until his death on June 14, 2009. She retired from Eden Park Nursing Home as a nurses assistant, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. Her free time was spent walking her canine companions, watching golf when Tiger was playing, and watching Golden Girls. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Linda, with whom she resided, Yvonne VanHatten and son Edward; granddaughters Alison McRath and Nicole VanHatten; great-granddaughter Mikayla McRath and beloved Shih Tzus, Abigail and Meiko. She was predeceased by her beloved son-in-law Frank VanHatten and dear friend JoAnn Wheeler. Alice had a deep inner strength and was a good friend to all. Weathering many storms in her life, she played the hand she was dealt with grace, beauty and dignity. She will be greatly missed. "i kochac cie na zawsze mom.". The funeral service will be Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Whitesboro, and 10:00 a.m. from the Church of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5-8 p.m.
