Donald Dauen Sr.

Donald Eugene Dauen, Sr., 84, of Clinton Iowa passed away on November 15, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center-North. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20th at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements. Donald was born October 15, 1929 in Whiteside County, Illinois, the son of Henry and Reaka (Ohmns) Dauen. Donald served his Country by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of WWII. He was united in marriage to Martha Henry on July 8th, 1961 in Rock Island, Illinois. Donald worked for Bennett Box Lumber Co. for 28 years, he also worked at Clinton Pallet Co. and he managed CP Lumber. Although he retired from his city jobs in 1978, he continued working with his wife on their family farm. You could always find Donald working -he enjoyed it, especially working on his farm and in his garden. He loved spending time in the outdoors and deer hunting. He had many hobbies but loved working with wood. Donald and his wife loved to travel taking many camping trips. Whether it was trips to the outdoors, short walks or simply watching TV, you could always find Donald with his faithful friend by his side, his lab "Lady". Donald is survived by one daughter- Martha (Ron) Huizenga of Arizona (formerly of Clinton); three sons - Donald Dauen, Jr. of Clinton, IA., Wesley(Jodi) Dauen of Albany, IL., Dave (Sandy) Henry of Camanche, IA.; five grandchildren- Bobbi Melvin of Clinton, IA., Becky Wagner of Clinton, IA., Joe (Debra) Dauen of Clinton, IA., Nicole Henry of Camanche, IA., Richard (Lisa) Darr of Clinton, IA.; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister - Viola Parkensen of Morrison, IL.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Martha, three sisters and one great great grand daughter. Memorials may be directed to the family.
