Dulcinea Genzink Obituary

Published by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home on Apr. 25, 2020.
Our earthly angel received her heavenly wings on Saturday, April 25th. Dulci was a beautiful, beautiful blessing to our family and to those whose lives she touched. Her strength and determination were so evident as she gracefully persevered through many disabilities beginning at the innocent age of 9 weeks. At an early age she showed signs she was different than the rest of us and she sure was, she was special. Dulci was given only 10 years to live at the time of her diagnosis, but with her fighting spirit and the grace of God, she beat the odds until her last days. Her strength had no bounds which was evident through the battles she overcame. Dulci could not sit, walk, eat, or speak. Despite these challenges, she communicated to all who knew her through her eyes, her smile, spunky attitude, and gentle wave of the arm. Without speaking a word, Dulci lived her sinless life with an abundance of peace, patience, and love. She was an inspiration to those around her, teaching us more about life than any able-bodied person ever could. Dulci was the glue that held her loving family together, showing us what was truly important. She is, and always will be, Mom's forever baby, beautiful lady, and joy. She was Dad's sweet angel, who gave him a sense of purpose. She was always known as the favorite in the family and her siblings lovingly nick-named her 'Booger face" and "Dulci Jeanie Weenie". Dulci's presence in her family's lives greatly impacted their paths. She found joy in attending school and spending time with all her friends and family at Special Needs week. She especially loved music, bumpy car rides and spa days where she would fall asleep while being lathered up with lotion and getting her hair washed. We are forever grateful to Dulci's caregivers who cared for Dulci over the years and especially this last year. We could not imagine life without their support. Dulci was preceded in death by her dad, Ronald and brother, Joshua. She is survived by her mom, Vonnie; siblings, Misty (Jordan) Sligh, DeeDee (Derek) DeFrell, Jordan Genzink, Belle (Matthew) Kuyvenhoven, Sadie Genzink; nieces and nephews, Max, Westin, and Auden, Griffin and Paisley, Oliver, Everly, Dexter; Grandma, Audrey Allen. As her father and big brother Josh met her at those pearly gates, we are rejoicing in the promise of Heaven. We smile at the image of her long curly locks flowing behind her as she runs to meet her Savior. She is physically whole as she rests in Gods arms and just as perfect as she always was here on earth. The family will have a time of visitation on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 followed by a committal service with Rev. Marvin Hofman officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to "CRCG - Special Needs Week" Christian Reformed Conference Grounds, 12253 Lake Shore Dr. Grand Haven, MI 49417.

Over the years, I was able to care for Dulci at Holland Hospital. I was always in awe of the love, care and dedication of the entire family. Siblings took turns sitting with her, helping bathe and turn her as if she was at home. What a wonderful example of unconditional love. My thoughts are with Dulci's family; she is watching over you with love.

My heartfelt prayers are with your family as you grieve and miss Dulci's presence here on earth. I so enjoyed having her in my class for many years, so long ago. What a reunion it will be someday, to see her run to greet each one of us that knew and loved her. May God hold you in His righteous right hand thru this difficult time.

Dulci's life picture was captured beautifully! Our hearts ache for you. The promise of Heaven is truly comforting! You all are such an amazing family. It is obvious she left a huge impact with everyone and comforting and inspiring that she did without needing to say a word. God never left her side and continues to be with you all. Prayers for you to feel his comfort and presence.

I loved your sweet baby girl! She touched my life and the lives of so many in such a unique and powerful way! I cannot even imagine what she is doing in the presence of Jesus with her new body set free to run, dance and walk. I am sure she is giggling and singing praises as she walks the streets of God with Ron and Joshua. Behold all things are made new in Him who loves us and give himself for us. May the God of ALL comfort, comfort you with His love, poser, presence and peace. You all lovingly cared for her and I know God was honored through you all! I love you!
