I was saddened to learn of George's passing. He was a student of mine as well as my research assistant for a while at UNC-Chapel Hill. I remember him as a talented and very pleasant individual; I did not realize that he was relatively close by and wish that I had kept in touch with him. I extend sincere sympathies to his family.
