Funeral services for Judy Kay Little Shield, 53, of Cherry Creek, will be Friday, Aug. 24 at 2:00PM, MDT, at the Cherry Creek Community Center. Burial will follow at Cherry Creek Congregational Cemetery under the direction of Stout Family Funeral Home, Mobridge. Meet on Cherry Creek Hill at 5:00PM Thursday to process to the community center for services beginning at 7:00PM. Judy entered the spirit world Aug. 15, 2012 in Rapid City. www.stoutfamilyfh.com Judy Kaye Little Shield was born September 12, 1958 in Cherry Creek, South Dakota to the late Theophile Sr. and Myrtle (Hale) Little Shield. Her early years were spent in Cherry Creek with her brothers and sisters. She enjoyed riding horses with her siblings. Judy went to school in Cherry Creek, Eagle Butte and Fort Yates, ND. While she went to school in Fort Yates, she lived with her cousin, Emmette and Lillian White Temple, She then returned to cherry Creek and Eagle Butte where she met her special companion, Richard High Bear, Jr. on September 2, 1982. They spent 25 great years together at their home in Cherry Creek. Judy had a special dog, Hoksila, that was her baby. She was a teachers aide at the Head Start for years with April Waloke. She then worked at the Cherry Creek Nutrition Center. After she got sick, she stayed home, At home she loved to bead, sew, talk on the phone, bake and watch television. She enjoyed listening to her brother, Nathanial, play his musical instruments and loved to dance along with it. She liked baseball and loved to watch her "Honey" play baseball. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. All her grandchildren had a special place in her heart. Grateful for having shared her life is her special companion, Richard High Bear, Jr.; sisters, Valtina, June & Nora Little Shield all of Cherry Creek; brothers, Morris Little Shield, Dupree, SD, Steven, Theodore, Clyde, Narlin and Andrew Little Shield all of Cherry Creek, SD, Norman Little Shield, Isabel, SD, Nathaniel Little Shield, Eagle Butte, SD and adopted brother, Waylon Young Bird, Eagle Butte; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and one uncle, Melvin Little Shield, St. Francis, Rosebud, SD and other extended family & friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Theophile and Myrtle Little Shield; sister, MaryAnn Taken Alive; nieces, Shantoya Little Shield & MaryLou Taken Alive; nephews, Freddy Taken alive, Shane Little Shield, Shawn Taken Alive & Tayson Little Shield; granddaughters, Heavenly Clown, Marlene Fire Cloud; grandsons, Roman Iron Bird and a few others; cousins, Irene Traversie, Clementine big Eagle, Lenora Reeves and a sister-in-law, Georgia Little Shield.
