Charles Madulka Obituary

MANCHESTER - Charles Madulka, 84, of Manchester, passed away Sept. 3, 2012, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

He was born in Drenova, Albania, on May 16, 1928, the son of Nassi and Marguerite (Cojo) Madulka. He immigrated to the United States more than 80 years ago, living in Worcester, Mass., for 30 years; he had been a Manchester resident since 1960. He was a graduate of the Worcester Boys Trade High School and following graduation worked as a machinist. During this time, he was a standout member of the Ionic Avenue Boys Club basketball team, which won the 1947 New England championship.

In 1951, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Following the war, he attended the Wentworth Institute of Technology and earned an associate degree in mechanical engineering. He had been employed by Sanders Associates for more than 25 years as a machine and tool designer.

Throughout his life, he was kind, giving and caring of others. His family was the most important part of his life, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Katherine (Thomas) Madulka, in 1999.

Family members include his son, Timothy Madulka of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; a daughter, Holly Madulka of Manchester; two grandchildren, Kassandra and Ryan Madulka; two brothers, Michael Madulka and his wife, Robin, of Georgia and Robert Madulka and his wife, Judy, of Massachusetts; a sister, Helen Athanas of Massachusetts; and nephews, nieces and cousins.

Holly and Tim, I am so sorry to hear about the sudden passing of your dad - Charlie. He was such a great guy and always had a kind comment and a warm smile for me. Your Uncle's YOUTUBE tribute was certainly enjoyable and showed some of the other great things he did - basketball, military service, friends and family. May the love of your family and friends comfort and strenggthen you in the days ahead. If there is anything I can do for you, now or in the future, please let me know as soon as possible. With deepest sympathy, JFK

Holly and Tim, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Lost my Dad in 2010 and no matter how long they live, I know you'd give anything to have a little more time. I'm sure he's in a better place. God bless you both.
