Wayne Lowell McKee, 80, of Santa Paula, California, passed away on January 15, 2018.

Wayne was born on May 9, 1937 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. His parents were Melvin and Cora (Brua) McKee. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, Iowa. He attended Lake Mills High School and graduated in 1955.

Wayne served in the US Army. He then attended heavy equipment operating school in Des Moines, Iowa. He moved to California where he worked as a meat cutter, but his career was a heavy equipment operator. He particularly relished the time he spent as a crane operator during the construction of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, located in downtown Los Angeles. Wayne also owned the Townhouse in Santa Paula for a while.

Wayne married Loretta Tate in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was the love of his life, and they were married for 16 years.

Wayne enjoyed and excelled in playing basketball, golfing, bowling, playing darts and shooting pool. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and taking trips to Bullhead City, Arizona. He liked fast classic cars, and he preserved his favorite 1969 Mustang convertible, along with his 1970 El Camino.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Cora and Melvin McKee; his brother, Lewine McKee; and his wife, Loretta McKee.

He is survived by his sister, Clarine (McKee) Moe; and his nieces and nephews, Lon McKee, Peg McKee, Pamela Moe, Bill Black, Steve Black, Cheryl Lowry and Susan Hughey.

Wayne wished to be cremated and his ashes placed at a special place. He did not want a funeral, but donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
